14 years.
One curriculum.
Proven in Japan.

The Okawari curriculum was not designed for a website. It was built inside treatment rooms, refined through 10,000+ sessions, and tested on the most demanding guests in the world — five-star hotel clients in Japan. Now it is available to partners outside Japan for the first time.

What We Teach

Not technique alone.
The complete picture.

Most wellness training teaches what to do with your hands. Okawari teaches why — the anatomy, the philosophy, and the silence that makes the technique work. The result is a therapist who understands the body, not just how to touch it.

Module 01

The Philosophy Foundation

Before any technique is taught, the therapist must understand the thinking behind it. This module covers the four pillars of Japanese wellness philosophy: Ma (space), Waza (technique), Kokoro (spirit), and Michi (path). Without this foundation, the technique is just movement.

  • Wabi-Sabi as a practice, not an aesthetic
  • Noble Silence — why quiet is the first treatment
  • Omotenashi — the Japanese art of anticipatory service
  • The role of ritual in neurological preparation
Module 02

Anatomy-Based Technique

Okawari's methodology is anatomy-first. Every technique is understood from the inside out — what is happening in the muscle, the fascia, the nervous system — before the hands learn the movement. This is what separates Okawari therapists from those trained in technique alone.

  • Musculoskeletal anatomy for treatment practitioners
  • The nervous system and touch response
  • Pressure, depth, and neurological effect
  • Reading the body — what the guest cannot tell you
Module 03

The Sound of Treatment

The acoustic dimension of Okawari's methodology. How to curate sound environments that prepare the nervous system before touch begins. The science of ASMR, koto resonance, and natural sound. How to design silence as actively as you design sound.

  • Acoustic stimulus and stress reduction (clinical basis)
  • Sound sequencing for treatment sessions
  • Designing the sound environment for your space
  • The transition from sound to silence
Module 04

Signature Treatment Protocols

The practical application. The specific treatment sequences that form the Okawari methodology — dry head ritual, body alignment, seasonal treatment design. Each protocol is taught hands-on, in the partner's own space, by certified Okawari practitioners.

  • Dry head and shoulder ritual (Zukyō methodology)
  • Body alignment and structural harmony (Seitai)
  • Seasonal treatment design — adapting to the guest
  • Treatment sequencing and session architecture
Module 05

Space & Atmosphere Design

The physical environment is part of the treatment. This module teaches how to apply Wabi-Sabi principles to an existing space — without a full renovation. Lighting, scent, material selection, spatial flow. How to make a room feel like Japan before anyone walks in.

  • Wabi-Sabi principles for treatment environments
  • Lighting design for neurological calm
  • Scent sequencing — before, during, and after
  • Spatial flow and the guest journey
Module 06

The Guest Protocol

In Okawari, the guest is not a client. They are the protagonist. This module covers the complete guest journey — from first contact to post-treatment follow-up — with the precision and intentionality of Japanese hospitality. Every interaction is a treatment.

  • Pre-arrival communication and expectation setting
  • Arrival ritual and the transition from outside to inside
  • Post-treatment protocol and follow-up
  • Guest retention — why Okawari guests return
